Los Angeles Lakers Rumors: Jordan Clarkson to get MRI for Injured Shoulder
The Los Angeles Lakers Jordan Clarkson might not be healthy in time for the season opener.
Clarkson, the second-year guard, sprained his right shoulder during the second quarter of Thursday night's exhibition game against the Golden State Warriors. The 23-year-old, who left the game and did not return, will be undergoing an MRI test on Friday to see how severe the injury is.
Head coach Bryon Scott stated that he was "absolutely" worried about Clarkson. Clarkson, on the other hand, is optimistic that will be able to play soon.
"It was like a real sharp pain," Clarkson said after the game, which the Lakers lost 136-97. "I think it's minor. I guess we'll just see tomorrow. It was just a sharp pain. That's all I can tell you. I shot a runner in the lane and felt the pain. I still don't know when it happened."
He added, "My arm, it felt numb for a second. I came to the bench and coach got me right out. I just told them it just felt numb."
Clarkson revealed that he first experienced the shoulder problems during Monday's game against the Portland Trail Blazers but did not think it was anything serious.
"It's pretty frustrating because that kid has done so well for us in the preseason," Scott said. "He's played so hard, and obviously even with this, he has a very bright future. But obviously it puts a damper on the way we want to start the season. It might be without him next Wednesday."
Clarkson averaged 11.9 points with 3.5 assists and 3.2 rebounds during the 2014-15 season.
The Lakers will be opening their season on Oct. 28 against the Minnesota Timberwolves at 10:30 p.m. ET.
