Back to the Future Latest Update: Cult Movie Fans Sweating for Pepsi Perfect Second Run
PepsiCo had a brilliant in their kitty when they thought of releasing the iconic Pepsi Perfect from Back to the Future Sequel in 1989 that brought the characters Marty McFly and Doc Brown to the future on October 21st 2015. To make their fans happy, Pepsi released a limited edition of Pepsi Perfect that sold out faster than the company had anticipated. Soon their marketing stunt became one of the biggest ire on social media as fans expressed their fury over company's poor planning. Some took to Twitter while others posted angrily on their social media pages expressing their anger for not being able to own and attainable bottle, reported CNET.
Even though Pepsi was excited to announce about their plans for 21st October 2015, but they couldn't keep up the fan's thrills for long. Pepsi Spokeswoman, Angela Tucciarone said, the celebrated beverage sold out "faster than we can say 1.21 Gigawatts," as told to CBS News. Twitter echoed with "You blew it," statuses reminding Pepsi of their mistake. Thankfully, Pepsi didn't ignore the collective calls of Back to the Future fans. They have decided to roll out a second batch of Pepsi Perfect so that the fans can have a chance to have a go at it this time. Tucciarone confirmed that "We're doubling the batch. Today's demand was greater than ever expected." Reported CBS News.
Pepsi in an official statement said that it was due to a glitch that the Pepsi Perfect went on sale earlier than expected. "As sometimes happens when going Back to the Future, a glitch caused a small amount of Pepsi Perfect to go on sale earlier than we intended. We will deliver on our promise to fans, and the rest will go on sale as planned," said a spokersperson to CNN Money.
