Nehemiah Griego Pleads Guilty To Murdering Parents And 3 Siblings
Nehemiah Griego was just 15 when he killed five family members in January 2013, according to the Associated Press.
He has now pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder for killing his parents and three counts of child abuse that led to the death of his three siblings, Angelina, Zephaniah and Jael. After shooting them, he reloaded his gun in order to fire at the shoppers in Walmart. However, he then just decided change his mind and visit his girlfriend.
He first killed his brothers Zephaniah, 9, Jael, 5, and sister, Angelina, 2. He then waited for his father Greg to come home from a homeless shelter and then killed him.
His rifles were lying loose at home, according to The Albuquerque Journal.
The matter had dragged in the courts for two-and-a-half years. There will be yet another trial in January, that will decide whether he should be treated as a juvenile or as an adult. The decision will then decide whether he should be in probation and detainment in a "juvenile facility" till 21. He could also be charged to serve three life sentences and 30 years.
"It is clear to those of us who know and love him that something went terribly wrong...Whether it was a mental breakdown or some deeper undiagnosed psychological issue, we can't be sure yet. What we do know is that none of us, even in our wildest nightmare, could have imagined that he could do something like this," Griego's family members said.
