Pokémon Go' Release Date and Rumors: Game Not Cancelled!

Contrary to recent rumors, Pokemon GO has not been cancelled and will release as scheduled in 2016. A Niantic representative has also promised more information about the game later this month.

According to Kotaku, numerous websites reported that the game was cancelled based on a video which later turned out to be a hoax. This is not the first time the game has been subjected to such speculation, since it was announced last month. Launch of another Pokemon installation had caused confusion which led to reports that Pokemon GO was releasing this year itself.

Christian Today quoted a Niantic Lab representative saying that more information about the game would be made available mid-October. He was responding to concerns that were raised about children play alongside adults in the real world.

Pokemon GO is an augmented reality game that requires gamers to capture, trade and fight Pokemon in the real world. From what is known about the game, gamers can hope to find Pokemon in different regions of the world. The game will be available as a downloadable app for Android and iPhones.

During the announcement, a wearable device called Pokemon GO Plus which will deliver in-game notifications and allow gamers to play without looking at their phones.
