Pokémon GO Release Date: Nintendo to Reveal more Details in Mid-October
Ever since The Pokémon Company International, Nintendo and Niantic announced the mobile game, Pokémon GO, fans have not been able to stop talking about it. Lucky for fans, more information regarding the augmented reality game will be unveiled in mid-October.
"We're not quite ready to talk in more depth about Pokémon GO than what was revealed in the announcement press release and assets," Niantic's representative Evan Dexter said reported by Nintendo Insider. "Come mid-October we'll be able to start going into more depth about our plans for the game, and about our plans for real world gaming overall."
So far, all fans know about Pokémon GO is that it will provide gamers the opportunity to become real life trainers via their mobile devices. Gamers will be able to buy a device called Pokémon GO Plus to catch Pokémon. The wearable, Bluetooth device has been designed to light up and vibrate whenever there is a Pokémon nearby.
"For the first time, Pokémon will roam free in the real world. Pokémon GO will allow players to capture Pokémon who inhabit parks, shopping areas, sidewalks and the countryside all around the world," John Hanke, founder of the Niantic company, which is heading the development of the game, said last month to PC Advisor. "Imagine discovering a Squirtle hiding along the waterfront in San Francisco, a Bulbasaur at Shinjuku Station or a Pikachu beneath the Eiffel Tower."
The game is expected to encourage people to go out and explore. Although some people are happy that the game can increase physical activity levels, others, particularly, parents are worried that their children could come into contact with dangerous people.
Auros Harman of Slate.com explained, "Parents struggle to track the content of kids' games, and many continue to fear the possibilities of negative encounters with adult players of online games. Very few are prepared to deal with a game that may encourage tweens and teens to interact with other players out in the real world. By definition, a GPS-based game knows where you are, any time you're playing."
Pokémon GO will be free for download through the App Store and Google Play and will work on devices running on iOS or Android. There will most likely be in-app purchases available.
Pokémon GO is expected to be released some time in 2016.
