Tesla CEO Elon Musk has struck under Apple's belt by making remarks that have surprised tech pundits; Musk and Apple were rumored to be talking business all the while.

According to PC Magazine, Musk recently told a German newspaper that Apple hires engineers fired by Tesla.

"Important engineers? They have hired people we've fired. We always jokingly call Apple the 'Tesla Graveyard.' If you don't make it at Tesla, you go work at Apple. I'm not kidding," he replied when asked if Apple hiring some of Tesla's top employees worries him.

Musk also expressed misgivings about Apple building cars.

"Did you ever take a look at the Apple Watch? No, seriously. It's good that Apple is moving and investing in this direction. But cars are very complex compared to phones or smartwatches," he said, according to CNET.

Rumors of talks between Tesla and Apple have been around longer than speculation that Apple is building an electrical car. Musk was also welcoming of the idea of Apple building a car last year, which has left many wondering why he took a dig at the Cupertino giant.
