Indianapolis Colts Rumors: Matt Hasselbeck to get the Start Over Andrew Luck
Matt Hasselbeck will be the starting quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday night when they take on the Houston Texans, a league source revealed.
It is unclear whether or not Andrew Luck will be in uniform for the game. Luck is dealing with an injured shoulder and missed his first NFL game last week. The Colts have not disclosed the extent of the injury but head coach Chuck Pagano stated that they will "do the right thing" in regards to Luck.
The Colts re-signed quarterback Josh Johnson on Wednesday. If Luck does not dress, Johnson would be Hasselbeck's backup.
During Tuesday's practice, Luck, who was listed as "limited," threw very lightly. Although Hasselbeck does not have an injury, he is dealing with a virus that has also limited his practice. Hasselbeck, who was in the emergency room due to his illness, was listed as questionable earlier this week.
Hasselbeck, who started last Sunday's game, was 30-of-47 for 282 yards and one touchdown. The Colts were able to come away with the 16-13 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Colts will likely get Dwayne Allen back tonight and injured running back Frank Gore (foot) will probably play as well.
The Colts biggest threat tonight will no doubt be J.J. Watt. In two games last season, Watt recorded 13 tackles, four sacks and one pass deflection against the Colts. He also recovered a 45-yard fumble return for a touchdown.
Thursday night's game at NRG Stadium in Houston will start at 8:25 p.m. on CBS.
