The police seems to be an eyesore for many in the public, and their image isn't too pretty today.

But one Dunkin' Donuts employee in West Hartford, Connecticut, declined to serve a police officer in the weekend, which he regretted later.

Even as the cop waited at the back of a queue, the employee ticked him off. "We don't serve cops here," he said, according to Fox CT.

The policeman walked out, but he was quickly followed by the manager and the employee.

The employee apologized, but the officer retorted that she should apologize to the other customers who appeared to be upset.

The employee also tried to hand him a free cup of coffee, but he declined it, and said he would get his coffee somewhere else, NBC Connecticut reported.

A formal apology was released by Dunkin' Donuts to the cop, adding that the employee had shown "poor judgment", according to HNGN.

Interestingly, Police Chief Tracey Gove appreciated the way the police officer had dealt with the incident. "Police officers face insults on a regular basis and we all strive to face them with professionalism. That's exactly what happened here."
