Is Vin Diesel trying to get Rob Cohen to direct "Fast 8"?

It is no secret that the eighth installment of the "Fast and Furious" movie still has not found a director. Several reports were claiming that the series' previous directors, Justin Lin and James Wan turned down the job because they both have upcoming projects. Now, it seems like Diesel has a director on his mind.

Diesel recently shared two pictures of himself with the 66-year-old director. In the Instagram post, which was a very old picture of Diesel with his cast members (Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster and Paul Walker), Neal H. Mortiz and Cohen, he thanked Cohen for creating such a tight knit group of people to star in the "Fast and Furious" series.

His message read, "The man that introduced me to my producing partner Neal and who cast Jordana as my eternal sister... The one who allowed for such a powerful and blessed love with Michelle... And like a father, had created the brotherhood that would define a millennium. Rob Cohen... I hear you Pablo...#HappyTorettoTuesday"

Diesel continued to praise Cohen via a post on his Facebook page. In the picture, Diesel and Walker sandwiched in Cohen. There was no caption.

Cohen started the "Fast and Furious" franchise in 2001. The first film grossed $207 million in the box offices worldwide. Since the extremely successful car-racing movie, Cohen has directed several other movies, such as "xXx," "Alex Cross" and "The Boy Next Door."

After "Fast 8" secures a director, new cast members could be named. The rumors, so far, have been claiming that actresses Helen Mirren, Ruby Rose and Cara Delevingne are being eyed for specific roles. Eva Mendes is also rumored to return as special agent Monica Fuentes.

"Fast 8" is scheduled to come out in April, 2017.
