Refugee Syrian Girl Delighted at Days Of Our Lives Tribute on Last Week Tonight Show
John Oliver, the host from HBO's Last Week Tonight, has been highlighting on his show, the numerous difficulties faced by refugees seeking asylum in less-hostile countries. A 16 year old Syrian refugee Noujain Mustaffa, who is disabled and who travelled to Europe in a wheelchair, is apparently a huge fan of the TV show 'Days Of Our Lives'. She was given a special tribute, courtesy of US TV host John Oliver and Days Of Our Lives cast, on the Last Week Tonight show, details The Guardian.
Noujain Mustaffa claims to have learnt English from watching Days Of Our Lives, her favorite show. Her favorite characters on the show were EJ DiMera played by actor James Scott and Sami Brady played by Alison Sweeney. They were her favorite couple. Like other fans, Noujain too was very unhappy when the daytime soap had killed off EJ, says Realty Today.
According to The Guardian, as a gesture to the Syrian refugee, John Oliver got the Days Of Our Lives actors to pay a little tribute to the 16 year old girl, wherein EJ is back from the dead and reunited with Sami in a special scene created just for the talk show. On the show, the clip of the scene was played and it was enacted by EJ and Sami on a set similar to Days Of Our Lives. In the clip EJ is back alive, and he and Sami, Noujain's favorite characters from the soap opera, are reunited together. What was even more noteworthy is that the clip talks about Syrian refugees and the two actors even mention Noujain Mustaffa's name.
Noujain would never have guessed that her name would be spoken to millions of viewers around the globe and that too, by her favorite American soap opera characters. The clip has gone viral across social media platforms and news sites. Noujain is absolutely delighted with this gesture and is over the moon, claims BBC.
