Bette Midler Wants Ariana Grande to Tone Down her Sexuality in her Videos
Singer Actress Bette Midler has accused the young singers of today of using sexuality to sell their songs.
She was particularly scathing of Ariana Grande for acting very promiscuous in her song videos.
"It's terrible!. It's always surprising to see someone like Ariana Grande with that silly high voice, a very wholesome voice, slithering around on a couch looking so ridiculous. I mean, it's silly beyond belief and I don't know who's telling her to do it," Midler told the Telegraph.
She advised young singers to be more confident of their talent.
"Trust your talent. You don't have to make a whore out of yourself to get ahead. You really don't."
This was in answer to a query about pornification of pop music.
Adriana was quick to respond to this strong criticism from the yesteryear 'bombshell' who herself was not shy of flaunting what she had. She posted on her twitter handle:
'Bette was always a feminist who stood for women being able to do whatever the F they wanted without judgement! not sure where that Bette went but I want that sexy mermaid back!! Always a fan no matter what my love.'
Midler, 68, has won three Grammy awards and four Golden Globes , three Emmys and a special Tony.
She was nominated twice for the Oscars for her role in "The Rose and "One for the Boys".
Her album The Divine Miss M in 1972 propelled her to fame.
