New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills Matchup: Rex Ryan Wants to Beat the Best
Rex Ryan might be on a new team but his desire to beat the New England Patriots has not died down one bit. The first-year Buffalo Bills head coach talked about the upcoming Sunday match against the New England Patriots.
"I dislike the fact that I haven't been that successful against them, there's no question about it," Ryan said Wednesday. "Look, I'll say this: I respect them probably as much as any team in the league, but I don't fear them. I can tell you that much. We don't fear anybody. In fact, we're looking forward to it. I get it: They've got all the trophies and they've got the records...but I think we've got the same record as we had in that stadium on Sunday and it's a brand new team, and we'll see what happens."
As the coach for the Jets, Ryan was 4-9 against the Patriots and head coach Bill Belichick. Ryan hopes that with a new team, his record against the reigning champions will be better.
"I relish any challenge, and this is a big challenge," Ryan said. "So I think as a competitor I absolutely - I'm excited about this game and this'll be great. There's no question about it. And it is a personal challenge. You want to go against the very best. I'd much rather have a win against and compete against a first-ballot Hall-of-Fame coach in Belichick than a slappy coach. I'll take the victory but I mean shoot, he's gonna get what I've got, and he knows it."
Ryan then added, "He knows I respect him but he also knows I'm gonna try like hell to beat him."
Ryan is also expecting a huge and very loud crowd for Sunday's matchup.
"I have a funny feeling it's gonna be as loud as any game I've been in in my life," Ryan said.
The Bills started off their season great with an impressive 27-14 win over the Indianapolis Colts.
