Duggar Family Update: Clan Criticized For Allegedly Using Donations For Vacation
The Duggar family has some explaining to do to some fans who donated money for the clan to continue posting updates about their lives in Youtube and in supporting their mission to help the poor in Central America.
In a report from Realty Today, fans started to question when Jill and Derick Dilliard flew back to the US at least twice since they reportedly went to Central America for their supposed missions.
The suspicions got even worse when, in one picture, they brought with them their five-year old son, Israel with the caption, "Travelling."
Since they are on a mission, the couple should not have been found in Amy and Dillon King's wedding a week ago in Bentonville, Arkansas and in another wedding of "Bringing Up Bates" stars Michaela Bates and Brandon Keilen on Aug. 15 in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Since then, fans posted angry comments on their social media questioning how the Duggars spent their donated cash.
"So what exactly are you doing to help people in El Salvador? Your donors would like a detailed statement of what their money is being used for. As far as I can see, all you guys are doing is going to Spanish class and making fun of the locals. Oh, I forgot. You also did that stupid interpretive dance thing. Have you done anything worthwhile to actually help people, or are you just there to convert Catholics?" a fan commented on their Facebook as cited in Mstarz.
Fans are also eager to see pictures of the place where they conducted the mission are would love pictures of hospitals, schools and Bible studies instead.
Derick and Jill, meanwhile, gave what their fans want and showed them that, indeed, their money is used for a good cause.
In one post, Jill was seen with people whom she is said to have met in their mission.
"My heart aches for the hardships these people are facing daily due to pressure and violence from the gangs. Please pray for their safety! We look forward to returning there to continue ministering after language school!"
As for their trips back to the US, Derick explained in one post that they did some planning and catching up to do before they continued their mission in Central America.
"Jill, Israel, and I recently arrived back in the States for a planned, month long trip to take care of some things and enjoy time with family and friends while we're here, before heading back to Central America," he posted.
The Duggar family is said to be earning about $3.5 million with $45,000 to $60,000 paid to them per episode of TLC's 19 Kids and Counting. However, with the show's cancellation after the revelation of Josh Duggar's scandal, the family is reportedly having hard times since then, She Knows said.
