Burglar 'Butt Dials' 911, Accidentally Reveals Break-In Plans To Cops
It sounds like an amazing scene, right out of a Hollywood flick. One careless New Jersey man was accused of burglary after he accidentally dialed 911 and let the authorities hear his plans.
Police said that they overheard 42-year-old Scott Robert Esser discussing a plan to "break into houses, empty drawers, steal watches and smash a back door," said NJ.
It was revealed through an "errant, open-line emergency phone call" that is usually called a "butt dial."
After he was arrested on July 29, Esser was held at the Somerset County Jail. After his vehicle was searched, the cops managed to unearth jewellery, electronic devices, a PlayStation 4 console, a .38 Caliber handgun, U.S. Bonds worth around $11,300 and burglary tools, according to hngn
Esser has now been charged with burglaries in Branchburg and Stafford townships and Berkeley Heights, according to Fox News . His bail has been set at $100,000.
He is being held in the Somerset County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash-only bail.
