Former Las Vegas Firefighter Announced Guilty Of Hiring Homeless Man To Kill Wife
He plotted and carried out his wife's murder, by hiring an "ex-convict homeless man", making him hide in her apartment, and then use a claw hammer to smash her to death.
George Miguel Tiaffay, 43, the former Las Vegas firefighter, did not react at all when the verdict was read out in the Clark County District Court, even as his sister Bernadette Holmes cried softly and wiped her eyes with tissue all the time, according to the Associated Press.
Tiaffay was a U.S. Military Academy graduate and a high school valedictorian. He faced a week-long trial over accusations that included murder and conspiracy among others, over the murder of his wife, Shauna Tiaffay, according to Fox News.
To keep her from getting his money, he had got her attacked and killed at 3.30 a.m. on September 12, 2012.
She had been murdered by Noel Stevens, who was living in the mountains, in a tent, with some violent background. He too testified last week in front of jury members, explaining that George had promised to pay him $5,000 to kill Shauna, according to The Las Vegas - Review Journal. He had admitted his guilt in January 2013, and may get 21 years in a state prison.
On Friday, the court will give its verdict of a sentence and finalise whether or not George will get parole or not. He will get a minimum sentence of 21 years, according to hngn.
