LA Lakers Rumors: Lakers have talks with Metta World Peace
The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly in talks to sign Metta World Peace to a one-year contract, league sources told Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports. The sources added that the talks are early and no deal has been completed.
The 35-year-old veteran has attended the Lakers' practice facility located in El Segundo this offseason. World Peace has reportedly been working with Julius Randle for the past two months. One official stated, reported by the Los Angeles Times that the two have played together at the Los Angeles Clippers' practice facility in El Vista.
Kobe Bryant is reportedly on board with the plan to bring World Peace back but will leave the decision up to the front office. World Peace played with the Lakers for four years between 2009 and 2013 and helped them win the 2010 championship over the Boston Celtics.
World Peace was then amnestied after the 2012-13 season. He had averaged 12.4 points and five rebounds in 33.7 minutes in that season.
After being waived by the New York Knicks during the 2013-14 season, World Peace played in China and Italy.
Throughout his NBA career, World Peace has played for the Chicago Bulls, Indiana Pacers, Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets, Lakers and Knicks. He averaged 13.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.8 steals in his career.
