A former cheerleader for the Baltimore Ravens has been sentenced to 48 weekends in jail for raping a teenage boy at a house in Delaware.

WBAL reports that 47-year-old Molly Shattuck received the sentence for raping the 15-year-old weekend over Labor Day weekend 2014. The state attorney prosecuting the case had originally sought a 22-month prison term for Shattuck, but she will serve the 48 weekends in jail over two years as part of a plea bargain she reached with the state.

The 48 weekends represent a suspended sentence of 15 years, which she could still face if she ends up violating her probation. In addition to the 48 weekends in jail, she must pay the victim and his family $10,000 and register as a sex offender for the next 20 years.

Shattucks lawyers asserted that no prison sentence was necessary, but the victim's family pushed hard for such a sentence in court and described Shattuck as a rapist.

WBAL says that Shattuck cried while she was in court and appeared remorseful by apologizing to the victim and his family. While her lawyer said that the cause of her actions had their basis in the fact her marriage had recently fallen apart and she was emotionally distressed, when she made her remarks to the court she said that there was no one else to blame for her actions than herself and she was deeply sorry.
