‘Fast and Furious 8’ Update: Michelle Rodriguez says her Dream Co-Star is Angelina Jolie
If Michelle Rodriguez was in charge of casting for the next installment of the "Fast and Furious" franchise, her first phone call would be to Angelina Jolie.
The 37-year-old actress, who plays Letty in the films, said that it is about time that the franchise brought in another badass female character.
"That would be sexy," Rodriguez said to ET in regards to adding Jolie to cast. "We've definitely got to bring up the ante, man. Whoever it is -- it has to be a powerful presence that hasn't been seen before."
Rodriguez, who was playing Call of Duty: Black Ops III at the Treyarch Stduio in Santa Monica, California, added that if a female character is added, she wants the female characters to be allies as opposed to enemies.
"The grand majority of the time in films, we're always fighting each other. I feel like it's time to evolve girls. Let's stop hitting each other and let's stop fighting each other, and let's start getting together and ganging up on people," Rodriguez said.
If the recent rumors are true, Rodriguez might be fighting her ex-girlfriend very soon. Model-turned-actress Cara Delevingne, who dated Rodriguez, has been the subject of numerous rumors. Some are claiming that she might join the Toretto family while others believe that she will be a villain.
Helen Mirren, who has expressed her desire to join the franchise, has also been rumored to be playing a villain. Regardless of who is the bad guy - or bad girls - this time around, Rodriguez hopes that the story line will be fresh.
"Whatever the storyline is, it needs to be relevant. I think there's only so many times that you can keep repeating history," she explained. "What happened with Fast 7, I don't want to say it's a fluke, but people came out of the woodwork to show love for Paul, and that's something you're not going to have in the equation with the next one. Whatever it is that they cook up needs to touch the hearts and souls of people."
Other cast rumors include Eva Mendes, Jason Statham, Kurt Russell and Cody Walker.
'Fast 8' is scheduled to hit theaters on April 14, 2017.
