Cara Delevinge Quits Modeling Career to Pursue Acting
After being one of the most sought after supermodels in the fashion world, Cara Delevingne has called it quits. She parted ways with Storm Model Management in July.
The 23-year-old British beauty talked how the clothing industry caused her so much stress throughout the years. The stress, she says, led her to suffer from flare-ups linked to her psoriasis, which is a skin condition that can manifest as scaly rashes.
"People would put on gloves and not want to touch me because they thought it was, like, Leprosy or something," Delevingne said to London's The Times. "I was, like, fight and flight for months. Just constantly on edge. It is a mental thing as well because if you hate yourself and your body and the way you look, it just gets worse and worse."
She added, "It (modeling) didn't make me grow at all as a human being. And I kind of forgot how young I was. I felt so old."
Delevinge started modeling when she was just 10-years-old. Her very first job was in Italian Vogue back in 2003. Despite her success, Delevinge has stated that modeling can be superficial. She added that the pressures of having to look and act a certain way often made her feel hollow.
The young star will now be focused on her acting career. Acting, she stated, has always been a dream.
Delevingne, who can be seen in "Paper Towns," will focus on building her acting career. Delevingne's upcoming films include "Suicide Squad," "Tulip Fever," and "London Fields." She has also been linked to two franchises, "Fifty Shades of Grey" and "Fast and Furious."
