“Fifty Shades Darker” Rumors: Are Delays Jeopardizing the Sequel?
Is the sequel "Fifty Shades Darker" still getting produced?
Even though Universal has announced a release date for the second movie in the "Fifty Shades of Grey" series based on the books written by E.L. James, recent rumors are claiming that production has been stalled.
According to the rumors, lead actor Jamie Dornan needs time to appease his wife, Amelia Warner, who is allegedly upset over the fact that the second movie will have more sex scenes between Dornan's character, Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson). The sex scenes are also rumored to be longer.
Rumors had previously claimed that Warner was already not too happy when Dornan signed on for the first movie. However, Warner did not let her concerns get in the way of Dornan's career. This time around, however, Warner is even more worried because of all of the rumors about Dornan's alleged interest in Johnson that have been circulating the Internet since the release of the movie.
In order to get Warner back on board, Dornan supposedly wants time off so that he can be with her after he finishes "Anthropoid." Dornan and Warner have a child together.
Based on the delay rumors and the fact that "Fifty Shades Darker" has yet to announce a director, many are already questioning the future of the movie. Although the movie will most likely get made, especially since the first one performed very well in the box office despite early scathing reviews, it might not get finished on time.
On top of finding a director, the movie still needs to cast several roles. If the movie follows the general plot from the books, the characters, Elena Lincoln/Mrs. Robinson, Jack Hyde and Leila Williams all need to be casted. Charlize Theron has been rumored to play Lincoln for a while now and "Paper Towns" actress, Cara Delevingne has been linked to Williams. Henry Cavill, known for his role as Superman in "Man of Steel," was rumored to play Hyde until the British hunk debunked those rumors himself.
"Fifty Shades Darker," which is an erotica romance movie with BDSM themes, is scheduled to open on Valentine's Day in 2017. The final movie in the franchise, "Fifty Shades Freed" is supposed to come out on Valentine's Day in 2018.
