NBA Free Agent Rumors: Jason Terry Considering Offer from Pelicans

Jason Terry is reportedly considering a free agent offer from the New Orleans Pelicans, sources told Fox 26. The sources added that Terry is not impressed with the Houston Rockets' offer.

The Rockets' offer is most likely a minimum contract. The Pelicans' offer, on the other hand, can be worth $600,000 more than the minimum contract because they can offer a biannual exception.

The 37-year-old veteran guard had a productive season for the Houston Rockets, In 77 games, Terry averaged 7.0 points. Terry would be a valuable asset for the Pelicans, who desperately need to add depth behind Jrue Holiday and Eric Gordon. The Pelicans also have not re-signed Norris Cole yet.

Terry could also be leaning towards the Pelicans because of head coach Alvin Gentry, who was hired in the offseason. Gentry is an experienced and well-respected leader "who likes to have a veteran voice in the locker room," FOXSports.com reported.

The Rockets, on the other hand, do not necessarily need Terry as much, although they would still like to bring him back. They currently have James Harden, Ty Lawson Patrick Beverley and Marcus Thornton.
