Fans might not see Channing Tatum as one of X-Men's superheroes after all.

According to The Wrap, the "Magic Mike XXL" actor might be dropping out of the Gambit movie due to contract disputes between his reps and 20th Century Fox. The website reported that the studio was in the process of testing female leads to star opposite Tatum when the deal reportedly fell apart.

If Tatum drops out of the project, it is unclear if producing partner Reid Carolin will stay involved. It is also unclear whether or not Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner will move on with the project by looking for another male lead.

A source close to the movie told The Wrap that Tatum's reps are still negotiating with the studio. The two sides should resolve their issues very soon since production for the movie, if the movie gets the red light, will have to start in the near future.

A few weeks ago, Tatum attended Comic-Con in San Diego. He was promoting his character, Gambit/Remy LeBeau alongside other superheroes. "True Detective" actor, Taylor Kitsch played the thief in the 2009 X-Men movie, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."

"Gambit" is supposed to come out in theaters on Oct. 7, 2016.
