Lil Wayne and Birdman Latest News: Birdman Denies any Involvement in Plan to Murder Lil Wayne
Bryan "Birdman" Williams has spoken out about the allegations that he was involved in a plot to murder Lil Wayne in April.
The CEO of Cash Money Records stated that he was not a part of any plan to kill the rapper, who filed a $51 million lawsuit against him earlier this year. The police had linked Birdman and rapper, Young Thug (Jeffrey Williams) to former tour manager, Jimmy Carlton Winfrey, who shot at Lil Wayne's tour buses.
Winfrey was arrested and charged with "aggravated assault, terroristic threats and acts, criminal damage, possession of a firearm by a felon, criminal gang activity, reckless conduct and discharging a weapon near the street," the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported.
After the shooting, which took place on April 26, Winfrey allegedly called a phone registered to Birdman, leading the police to believe that he might have been ordered to shot Lil Wayne by Birdman.
TMZ, however, is reporting that the fact that the phones were registered under Birdman was not surprising. Since they are all a part of the company, anyone associated with Cash Money or Young Money could have used these phones. The tabloid website added that Birdman did receive a phone call that day but it was from someone inside of Lil Wayne's camp. The concerned member was calling to fill Birdman in on what happened with Winfrey.
Birdman has reassured Lil Wayne that he was not involved at all and will help him find out who was behind it.
Despite offering his help, Birdman and Lil Wayne are still in the middle of two nasty lawsuits. Lil Wayne filed one in January claiming that Birdman and Cash Money withheld money that he earned from his album. Lil Wayne is also asking to be released from his contract.
On July 16, Birdman sued Tidal for streaming Lil Wayne's album exclusively without their consent. He is asking for $50 million.
