David Grohl Sits While Performing In 4th Of July Concert Following Leg Injury
David Grohl proves fans gathered at the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium in Washington, D.C on Saturday that the show must go on despite his leg injury.
According to Variety, the rocker played his guitar while seated in what they coined the 'Iron Throne', a throne decorated with music aps, guitars and other decorations. While performing, the musician is elevating his injured leg as previously advised by his doctor.
This year's 4th of July performance has a great significance for Grohl and the band Foo Fighters as it marked their 20th anniversary in the music industry thus the injured frontman made sure not to miss it, Loudwire said.
Also, Grohl also grow up in the DC community which makes it more significant to him.
"I'm not missing this show for the world," the musician told the audience.
As for the throne's concept, Consequence of Sound said that the idea came to the guitarist while he was at the hospital convalescing and was high in oxycontin.
"I was as high as a kite when I drew that," Grohl shared to the DC crowd.
In his sedated state, the rocker came up with the idea of having 'guitar arms' for decoration with "lasers and s-t shooting from the top" and a speaker cabinet below his seat.
It can be remembered that David Grohl got injured last month on June 12 while performing in Gothenburg, Sweden. While performing "Monkey Wrench", the frontman, accidentally, had a great fall from the stage thus resulting in a leg injury.
