Flappy Bird Returns With Multi-Player Mode, But Only On Amazon’s Appstore

Flappy Bird has made a comeback with a new name "Flappy Bird Family," allowing multiple players to play the game.

After ditching and burying the ridiculously addictive bird flying game in February, Flappy Bird has finally made a comeback with a new name and a different game-play. Staying true to his word, game developer Dong Nguyen launched Flappy Bird Family. Sadly, the game isn't available for Android and iOS platforms devices but debuts on Amazon's Fire TV platform.

Flappy Bird's comeback in August was expected as Nguyen promised during an interview with the Rolling Stone magazine in March. Flappy Birds Family features split screen mode, new characters and obstacles in the same-old 8-bit pixilated form. The game also features ghost enemies that players need to avoid in their game-play. Players can share their best scores with friends and challenge them for a match. The app's description on Amazon Appstore says the game is "more fun and still very hard."

"Enjoy playing the game at home (not breaking your TV) with your family and friends," reads a brief description for the game on Amazon.

New features for revised Flappy Birds were already in the books but the choice of platform is quite surprising. Instead of going with the highly successful Android or iOS platform, Nguyen chose Amazon Fire TV. As CNET notes, the decision to choose Amazon Fire TV may come from the game's requirement for a two-player mode that relies on a game controller. Amazon offers a micro-console and set-top box hybrid along with a controller to play games on TV, making it an ideal choice for Flappy Bird Family.

With regards to the release, Nguyen is yet to make an official statement. The .GEARS official website does not list the new game, leaving everyone puzzled if the game will foray into other platforms anytime soon.

For now, Amazon Fire TV owners can enjoy Flappy Birds Family by downloading the game from here.

Hope you don't break your TVs this time.
