Fitbit Is Outselling Apple Watch (At least So Far)

Activity tracker Fitbit is outselling Apple Watch, according to a new report from Slice Intelligence.

The firm measures data and has noted in the recent report that before the 2014 holidays, none of the other well-known wearable device brands such as Jawbone or Garmin were selling more than 50,000 units per week.

Fitbit has recently seen an increase in sales and now it manages to sell 200,000 units per week.

Fitbit says it has sold 20.8 million devices between September 2009 and by the end of March 2015, 10.9 million of which the company sold in 2014.

The Apple Watch is only available for purchase for few months which could be the reason why its sales are below Fitbit.

Apple has received one million pre-orders for Apple Watch in April.

Notably, consumer bases for Fitbit and Apple Watch "don't overlap much" because of the difference in price point.

"These sales figures may or may not be such important metrics given the newness of the Apple Watch, but I'll just add a little anecdotal evidence here via a friend who purchased one of the first Apple Watches and has been using the health monitoring functions," noted Jay Barmann of Sfist.com.
