Jodi Arias Trial Latest Update: Court Orders Femme Fatale To Compensate Travis Alexander's Family
Jodi Arias has been asked to pay more than $ 32,000 as compensation to the family of Travis Alexander, who she murdered in 2008.
According to USA Today, Maricopa County Superior Court ordered Arias to pay the amount offered by her defense as the family of Alexander did not come for the restitution proceedings. Arias was ordered to pay $15,530.73, $10,754.99, $4,232.11 to sisters Samantha Alexander, Tanisha Sorenson and Hilary Wilcox, respectively. She was also asked to pay $1,372 and $225.60 to brothers Stephen and Dennis Alexander as travel and lodging expenses.
The proceedings also saw Aria's defense attorney Jennifer Willmott ask for the family to offset some of the expenses from the donations received during the trial. Arias was not present during the proceedings and it remains to be seen how she can pay the family of the victim.
Jodi Arias was sentenced to life in prison without parole in April this year. She was convicted for murder of her on-off boyfriend Travis Alexander in 2013. The original jury that pronounced her guilty was not able to decide the sentence. A second jury too failed to reach a consensus. She was then ordered to life in prison. Travis's body bore 30 stab wounds, a gunshot wound in the head and slit throat.
