Sean Combs, who goes by the stage name, Diddy, has released a statement about his arrest on Monday. Diddy, 45, was arrested after allegedly assaulting someone with a kettlebell at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where his 21-year-old son, Justin Combs, plays football.

Diddy's statement, released via a rep, read: "The various accounts of the event and charges that are being reported are wholly inaccurate... Any actions taken by Mr. Combs were solely defensive in nature to protect himself and his son. We are confident that once the true facts are revealed, the case will be dismissed."

The younger Combs also broke his silence in regards to the incident. On Tuesday, Combs posted a loving picture of him with his father on Instagram. The picture was captioned, "I thank God for having a father that's always there for me...Love you pops!"

According to the university spokesman, Phil Hampton, the incident occurred at the Acosta Athletic Training Complex, which is on the UCLA campus, at around 12:30 p.m. No one was seriously injured.

"I'm thankful that our staff showed the level of professionalism that they did in handling this situation," UCLA football coach Jim Mora said in a statement. "This is an unfortunate incident for all parties involved."

Mora stated that the school will no longer be commenting on the case in order to allow "the legal process [to] run its course."

The university's release later revealed, "UCPD has updated the charges to three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one count of making terrorist threats and one count of battery."

The officials did not disclose the victim's name but TMZ reported earlier that Diddy got into a scuffle with Combs' coach during a practice session. Combs is a red-shirt defensive back for the UCLA football team.

This story has not been confirmed, however, the Los Angeles Times added that sources claimed Diddy was not happy when conditioning coach Sal Alosi called out Combs' difficulties loud enough for others to hear. Diddy allegedly confronted the coach later on at the athletic complex.

The L.A. County Sheriff's Department stated that Diddy will have to appear in court on July 13.
