Tommy Chong Cancer Update: Comedian Smoking Pot and Undergoing Treatment for Rectal Tumor
Tommy Chong declared on Wednesday that he got diagnosed with a new kind of cancer. This time, it is rectal cancer that plagued him.
In an interview with US Weekly, the 77-year old comedian said, "I've had some medical issues lately,"I got diagnosed with rectal cancer."
The comedian has faith in the healing wonders of marijuana which he claimed to have contributed in his successful battle with prostate cancer in 2012.
In his recent cancer, he is said to still rely on the drug.
"I'm using cannabis like crazy now, more so than ever before. I'm in treatment now. I've been - just the case either way, either I get healed or I don't. But either way, I'm going to make sure I get a little edge off or put up," he said.
The veteran actor also openly talked about his recent illness and has posted a series of Tweets about it on Twitter, USA Today reports.
"I have good news and bad news. First the bad news, the cancer came back and it's a real pain in the butt."
"The good news is I now have to use more marijuana to treat the cancer."
He further promised to document his journey in coping with it and asks fans to support him.
"I will be documenting my cancer fight on the Chong and Chong podcast to let my fans know how the fight is going."
"Please wish me luck while I kick cancer's behind. Thank you for all of your love and support."
Despite lack of evidence in curing cancer, using cannabis for medicinal purposes has already been legalized in Canada, according to CBC News.
