Melbourne Man Held for Offering Chicken Dinner in Exchange for Sex
A Melbourne man was arrested Thursday in Sanford, Fla., for offering to pay an undercover female police officer $3 and a chicken dinner in exchange for sex. He was released on a $250 bond later.
In recent years, rampant sex-related crimes have been reported across the United States and police departments all over the country are trying their best to apprehend the culprits so they could be punished as per the law. In some cases, police officials need to work under cover so that the process of bringing the criminals to books can move swiftly.
In this case, 32-year-old Steven Torres was one of the seven men who was arrested during a sting operation conducted by Sanford Police prostitution. Torres now faces a charge of soliciting prostitution. Even though he has been released, he will have to appear at the Seminole County Courthouse Dec. 1.
A female police officer had posed as a prostitute near South 27th Street and South Orlando Drive. The arrest report reveals that after a brief conversation, Torres offered to pay her $3 and treat her to a chicken dinner in exchange for sex.
Sanford Police Chief Cecil Smith, speaking on what the department had hoped to accomplish during the sting operation, said: "This sting is part of the Sanford Police Department's ongoing commitment to improve the quality of life for Sanford residents by going after not only those who sell sex but those who solicit sex as well," Inquisitr reports.
Police recorded the incident and submitted the CD containing the audio recording as evidence, Florida Today reports.
