Ronda Rousey Speaks out after Bethe Correia Makes Insensitive Suicide Remark
The UFC 190 showdown between Ronda Rousey and Brazilian Bethe Correia should be a great one, especially after Correia made things extremely personal.
Ahead of the fight, which is on Aug. 1, Correia spoke with Combate and made very nasty comments about the current UFC Woman's Bantamweight Champion's history of drug abuse.
"I want to knock her out, show to everyone that she is a lie," Correia said. "She wants to stand up with me, let's see. I want to humiliate her and show the world she has no MMA. She is focused on movies, books.... Under pressure, she is proving weak. When her mom put pressure on her, she ran away from home. When she lost, it was because of drugs. That's not a superhero. She is not mentally healthy; she needs to take care of herself."
Rousey shared her struggles with her painkillers and alcohol addiction during the earlier years of her career in her autobiography, "My Fight/Your Fight."
Instead of ending her jab at Rousey's addiction problems, Correia continued by making a suicide comment.
The fighter said, "She is winning, so everybody is around her cheering her up, but when she realizes she is not everything that she believes she is, I don't know what might happen. I hope she does not kill herself later on (laughs)."
Suicide was another topic that Rousey talked about in her tell-all book. Rousey's father committed suicide after he suffered from an accident that left him with back pain. It is unclear whether or not Correia knew that Rousey's father took his own life.
In response to these comments, Rousey sent Correia a tweet, telling her that suicide is not something to joke about. Rousey added that she will give Correia what she deserves.
@bethecorreia suicide is no joke or selling point. My father will be with me the day I hand you the comeuppance you deserve.

Rousey also said, according to Sports Illustrated, "This fight has gone pretty personal for me and when I finish fights quickly, that's really me at my most merciful. My dad would call it a 'come to Jesus meeting'. I'm going all the way down to Brazil to a 'come to Jesus meeting' with this chick. No, I'm not gonna end it quickly. But not because I can't end it quickly, because I choose to."
The fight will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
