NBA Rumors: Miami Heat remain the Favorites to sign Goran Dragic
Goran Dragic will most likely remain in Miami. According to the latest rumors, the Heat are still the favorites to sign Dragic, who will become a free agent this summer.
Dragic, who was not happy with the Phoenix Suns, was traded to the Heat before the trade deadline in February. Although his addition did not help get the Heat to the playoffs this year, the organization reportedly believes that Dragic can become a key player for them.
"Heat guard Goran Dragic, an impending free agent, feels strongly that the Heat must play faster and has been assured that's a key part of the Pat Riley/Erik Spoelstra master plan, according to an associate," the Miami Herald reported. "We're told Dragic very much likes Spoelstra and Riley and nothing to this point has changed regarding the Heat's status as front-runners to keep him. The Lakers, Knicks, New Orleans, Milwaukee, Sacramento are all expected to have interest."
The Heat, who also gave up two future first-round picks to acquire Dragic, will reportedly offer him a max contract in July. Several reports are claiming that the Heat have assured Dragic that they will play at a faster pace. Dragic has a $7.5 million player option for the 2015-16 season but is expected to test the free agent market.
Josh Hill with Fansided wrote, "The Heat have been desperately trying to fill the void left in their Big 3 when LeBron James left last summer, and having Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and Goran Dragic teamed up could be something that puts them over the top."
Dragic averaged 16.3 points with 4.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds.
