The latest trailer for Black Mass shows Johnny Depp playing real-life, Boston mob boss Whitey Bulger, as he gives his 6-year-old son some questionable advice.

"It's not what you do. It's when and where you do it and the who you're doing it to or with," Bulger says in the trailer. When his girlfriend (Dakota Johnson) asks if it's appropriate to tell these things to a six year old, Bulger replies, "Yeah."

In 1970s South Boston, FBI Agent John Connolly (Edgerton) persuades Irish mobster James "Whitey" Bulger (Depp) to collaborate with the FBI and eliminate a common enemy: the Italian mob. The drama tells the true story of this unholy alliance, which spiraled out of control, allowing Whitey to evade law enforcement, consolidate power, and become one of the most ruthless and powerful gangsters in Boston history.

He was one of the FBI's 10 Most Wanted and he manage to escape a worldwide manhunt until he was captured in Santa Monica, Calif in 2011.

A federal jury convicted him in 2013 on charges of participating in 11 murders, drug trafficking, racketeering, money laundering, extortion, and other crimes.

Black Mass also stars Kevin Bacon, Benedict Cumerbatch, Joel Edgerton, Jesse Plemons and Sienna Miller. The movie was directed by Crazy Heart's Scott Cooper from a script by Mark Mallouk and Jez Butterworth.

The movie is slated to hit theaters on September 18.
