In less than a week, Google will be hosting its annual developer conference - Google I/O - where most likely it will release details about its new mobile operating system, Android M.

Here are few things that we know (so far) about the new Android OS:

Android M Name

Though we are sure that the new operating system of Android will be called Android M, what we're not sure is that what it will stand for. We are guessing it might be called anything from Muffin or Marshmallow to Milky Way or M&M's.

Material Design

The new operating system design is likely to stay mostly unchanged, according to various reports. Expect seeing more flat icons, animations and minimalistic approach to graphics design.

Android Pay... Like Apple Pay?

If rumors are to be believed, Google will include a new mobile payments framework called Android Pay, and most likely it will be included in the new version, Android M. It will be based on NFC, but eventually it will use biometrics data.

Android Wear for iOS

Rumors has it that the search giant is working on making its wearable platform fully compatible with iOS devices, iPhones and iPads. Google is said to be "close to finishing the final technical details" finally letting users pair their smartwatches with iOS devices.

Android M Release Date

While the new OS will be showcased at the upcoming conference, don't expect it to launch outright for public. When Lollipop was first unveiled, the stable release was only available five months later.
