3.5 Million: Number of Compromised Users in The Recent Adult Friend Finder Hack

Adult dating site Adult Friend Finder has been hacked and user information of 3.5 million users, which includes names, addresses and sexual preferences, has been leaked online.

The leaked information was fist discovered by Channel 4 News in a secretive chat forum on the "dark web." Dark web, or Deep web is the portion of web content that cannot be indexed by standard search engines.

Owner of the site, FriendFinder Networks Inc, said on its website that it was investigation the breach.

"Until the investigation is completed, it will be difficult to determine with certainty the full scope of the incident, but we will continue to work vigilantly to address this potential issue and will provide updates as we learn more from our investigation," the company wrote.

"We cannot speculate further about this issue, but rest assured, we pledge to take the appropriate steps needed to protect our customers if they are affected."

Reportedly the site boasts 63 million users worldwide. Channel 4 also said that the stolen data includes names and dozens of government and armed services personnel.

The site is infamously knows for having users that typically look for casual sex rahter than long-term relationships. It calls itself as "thriving sex community."

Notably, the data revealed that the site boasts overwhelmingly male and the ratio of man to woman was 16:1.

"We have already begun working closely with law enforcement and have launched a comprehensive investigation with the help of leading third-party forensics expert," said FriendFinder Networks Inc, owner of Adult FriendFinder, to Channel 4 News. "We pledge to take the appropriate steps needed to protect our customers if they are affected."
