Sony Xperia Z5 Release Date and Rumors: Bravia-Inspired Flagship Handset Could Arrive in 2015

Speculation about Sony Xperia Z5 hardware is being churned furiously though its predecessor Z4 is yet to be released internationally. The latest scoop is that Sony may take design cues from it's successfully television line Bravia, to design its latest flagship handset.

Earlier Xperia Z phones featured the Omni-Balance design. Some of the aesthetics and appearance changes expected in Z5 include a change of location of logo, frostered glass and more angular sides, reports The Latino Post. Sony launched Xperia Z4 quitely in Japan last month to poor response. The Z4 does not offer any major changes over its predecessor Z3.

The phone's launch is rumored in Q4 of 2015 but the release date could be pushed to early 2016 to coincide with Snapdragon's 820 chipset release. A 2016 release could see Sony put the new chipset into its flagship device.

Like its predecessors, Xperia Z5 is likely to appear in three variants with Compact and Ultra being the other variants besides Standard. The Ultra variant may arrive with Qualcomm's Ultrasonic Sense ID that promises to provide fingerprint scanning experience far enhanced than Sony's technology. The phones may pack as much as 4 GB RAM and a 2 K screen, while some reports suggest that the Ultra version could come with a QHD screen.

The new flagship will receive a camera sensor makeover to click images at 27 MP. A front camera of 6.1 MP is likely to accompany the device.
