Burglars Loot Family Home during Funeral
Kim Correa and her daughter were in for a shock when they returned to their home in San Diego after attending the funeral of a family member.
Their home at been completely ransacked by burglars.
"That someone would violate your property when you're mourning," said Correa in disbelief who had left home to attend her mothers funeral.
Correa's daughter, Monique Coleman added, "They went through every drawer. They took my wedding jewelry. They took computers."
"They took my Coach and Mark Jacobs bags," said Correa.
The burglars didn't stop there. They even took Correa's late mothers jewellery.
"Like more the memories that it held more than the value of the jewelry - what it meant for my grandma to leave those things to me," Coleman said struggling to hold back her tears.
The burglars included two men and one women and their images were captured in surveillance cameras when the gang were using the credit cards seized from the Correa home.
While the family has been unable to recognize the intruders, investigators believe the burglars must have found out about the Correa home by reading the obituary ad on Facebook and the newspaper.
Kim is still hopeful that the gang would eventually return her mother's belongings back to her.
"It would be my greatest hope that the grandmother's items would be returned," said Correa.
