Elderly Cancer Patient Calls 911 for Food Because He Couldn’t Move
Eight one year old cancer patient, Clarence Blackmon returned home finally after spending months at the hospital only to find his refrigerator empty.
With nothing to eat and no energy to go to the store, he called 911 hoping for some assistance.
Blackmon told the 911 operator, "I can't do anything. I can't go anywhere. I can't get out of my damn chair."
While giving an interview later to ABC, Blackmon continued, "I said, 'I'm not broken, I'm not bleeding, and I'm not in crisis. I just want somebody to help me buy some food."
The call was handled by operator Marilyn Hinson and assured Blackmon that groceries would be sent to his place.
After taking permission from her supervisor, Hinson went to groceries and bought all his favorite foods which included green beans, cabbage head, pickled beets and pepsi.
She then stopped by at his place and prepared sandwiches for him.
Hinson during an interview with ABC said, "He was hungry. I've been hungry. A lot of people can't say that, but I can, and I can't stand for anyone to be hungry."
When questioned about her compassionate act, Blackmon said, "I was overwhelmed."
Blackmon added "She is such a delightful lady. It's amazing. Us little people need a helping hand every once in a while. Most of the time, we get overlooked. We're still here."
