Bono and the rest of his band, U2 surprised fans at the Grand Central Terminal in New York at around 10 p.m. ET on Monday night. The band and the host of "The Tonight Show," Jimmy Fallon, went incognito and performed Angel of Harlem.

Despite dressing up as street musicians by wearing wigs and hats, many people recognized their famous faces and documented their experience on social media. In these posts shared on social media, Bono, 54, looked very healthy.

The mini one-song concert was reportedly tied to U2's upcoming - highly anticipated - appearance on Fallon's show this Friday.

U2 has not made any appearances since Bono's bike crash in November. Bono underwent surgery for several injuries and still cannot play the guitar. Bono and Fallon were also spotted recreating the bike accident earlier this week. The clip will debut on Friday's show.

U2 was supposed to perform a week long residency on "The Tonight Show" before Bono got into his accident.

The singer spoke with the New York Times in late April about his injuries.

"It feels like I have somebody else's hand," Bono said. "I can't bend these, and this is like rigor mortis. But they say that nerves heal about a millimeter a week, so in about 13 months I should know if it's coming back."

Now that Bono has recovered significantly from his injuries, U2 will start their world tour on May 14 in Vancouver. The Innocence + Experience tour will hit more than 20 cities.
