Ryan Gosling uploaded a vine of himself eating cereal in honor of the creator of the "Ryan Gosling won't eat his cereal" meme, Ryan McHenry. McHenry died on Sunday after fighting bone cancer for two years. He was 27.

Gosling also tweeted his condolences to McHenry's loved ones. The actor wrote, "My heart goes out to all of Ryan McHenry's family and friends. Feel very lucky to have been apart of his life in some small way."

In McHenry's popular memes, he took clips of Gosling from various movies and tried to spoon feed him cereal via the TV screen. Here is a compilation video of the memes:

Shortly after McHenry's videos went viral, he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma.

In a 2013 interview with the Verge, McHenry talked about where he got his inspiration from to create these videos and how he hoped Gosling would help the story come full circle by responding to the video.

He had said, "A lot of my positivity has come down to knowing that I've got a small audience out there. I kind of feel like I need to be positive for them. If I was on my Twitter or on my Vine being really negative, like 'this is the worst thing ever, this is horrible,' it just wouldn't be nice for people to hear."

In regards to "The Notebook" actor, McHenry said, "As a filmmaker, I like to have a conclusion to things. The only conclusion I can see out of this whole thing is to have Ryan Gosling respond to this. Even if it's just him eating cereal."

McHenry's fans and other people who heard about the story started to tweet Gosling, asking him to respond to the popular video and the request was finally granted.

Gosling and McHenry never met when the filmmaker was alive.
