One 101-year-old man was pulled out alive from his ruined home a week after Nepal was hit by an earthquake. He survived the toll that has already claimed 7,200, and is expected to shoot higher, according to thetimesofindia.

He was trapped in April 25 when the earthquake hit the country. Funchu Tamang was saved with just some minor injuries on his body. "He was brought to the district hospital in a helicopter. His condition is stable," local police officer Arun Kumar Singh said from Nuwakot district, around 80 kms northwest of Kathmandu.

He was one of three survivors in Syauli, a village in one of the most shattered areas. Hit by an earthquake of 7.8 magnitude, he suffered as much as the others, according to theindependent.

Other rescued include three women in Sindhupalchok. However, there were 51 bodies, including trekkers in northern Rasuwa district that had been hit by an avalanche last week. As entire village had been swept away.

"We estimate that about 100 foreigners might still be missing in the area," said senior local official Uddav Prasad Bhattarai. "Our priority was to get the survivors out. We rescued over 350 people, about a half of them were tourists or guides."

Finance minister Ram Sharan Mahat said: "There are still villages where we know that all houses have been destroyed, but have not yet been able to reach. The aftershocks have not receded and we expect the final casualty numbers to climb much higher."
