Apple Terminates Watch Retail After Discovery of Defective Taptic Engine
Apple Inc limited availability of the Apple Watch after a key component supplied by a Chinese company was found to be defective, as reported by the Wall Street journal.
A Taptic engine is installed in an Apple Watch to produce a sensation of being tapped on the wrist.
The Taptic Engine that was being installed in the Apple Watch was supplied by Shenzhen, China based AAC Technologies Holdings Inc. the component started to break down over time and this forced Apple to rectify the issue.
As a result, Apple Inc is now sourcing nearly all of its components from the other supplier, Japan's Nidec Corp. However, it may take some more time for the company to increase the production of the Apple Watch.
