If You Want To Date A Bachelor President Then Try Benigno Aquino

In 2010, when Benigno Aquino III became President Of Phillippines, many people thought that the country's first lady would tail him.

However, he did not marry his then girlfriend for two years, Shalani Soledad, a local politician. Nor did he marry his stylist Liz Uy, the TV host Grace Lee, or any of his string of girlfriends, according to scmp.

Do you want to take your turn? If you want to try your luck, then call him by his nicknames--- PNoy, aka Noynoy and try the dating.

Anyway, it's strange that in this "family-orientated nation of 95 million" with ruling family dynasties like the Arroyos, Cojuangcos and Aquinos, the President remains single, according to the guardian.

He admits that he is an eligible bachelor. "Given the burdens of this office, if there were someone you could confide in, someone you could talk to, someone who would tell you 'You're still doing OK', then of course that would be a key to your inspiration," Aquino tells reporters. "I've been planning [marriage] for a long time, since college even. But I've just been unlucky."

He says to the South China Morning Post that he is a little less hopeful of settling down with anyone. "At some point in time, it does become kind of a ridiculous exercise," he sighs. "You know, just to give you an idea, and you make fun of it. My barkada (friends now) have children more or less ... in the dating stage."

Three of his former friends have grown-up daughters-who could date.

"You know, perhaps, that's where God is kind to me. They looked at me and said: 'Why?'" he joked. "You know, by the time I have a daughter who's gonna ... be going out on dates, I'll probably be senile and won't understand any of it anymore'. So God has a perfect plan for all of us."

Aquino sure makes great tabloid news. One columnist had counted 18 girlfriends---even before he became President. When he was a student at the university, he claims: "I've had a lot of serious relationships" starting when he was 18."

The reason for not marrying is probably his troubled memories. His senator father was imprisoned by Marcos, when Aquino was 12. "There was somebody who was detained in the same facility as my father. And the woman left him [probably saying] 'I can't take this anymore. We'll fend for ourselves and you fend for yourself'," he recalls.

"He never got any visitor for a period of five years, apart from those who visited his cellmate. So when you talk about [being abandoned], that guy represents to me what it meant to be abandoned and still stand up to your beliefs."

Hence he is trying to search for "somebody [who] will stand by you regardless of what or whatever."

"Ours was not gonna be a simple life. So not just anybody can withstand the pressures of it," said Aquino. He was 23 when his father was assassinated. He was 26 when his mother Corazon became President and 27 when he almost died due to some shooting.

He became President when he was 50, after his mother died.
