NFL Draft Rumors: Cleveland Browns Plan on Trading Up for QB Marcus Mariota

The Cleveland Browns are interested in acquiring quarterback Marcus Mariota.

Mariota, the Heisman Trophy Winner, is considered the second best quarterback, after Florida State's Jameis Winston, in this year's draft. Throughout his college career at Oregon, Mariota recorded 105 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 41 starts.

A source familiar with the discussions stated that the Browns plan on trading up with the Tennessee Titans, who have the No. 2 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. The source added that the Browns put an offer on the table that included the team's two first round picks, which are 12th and 19th overall.

Another source close with the team stated that these discussions are normal, especially within the days leading up to the draft. The source added that there have been no substantive talks, however.

Just last week, Browns general manager Ray Farmer talked about trading up in the draft.

He said, "I would go up if it was the right circumstance, and I would go back if it was the right circumstance. A lot of the scuttlebutt that you hear and the conjecture and the noise that's out there, it changes the complexion of trying to get a deal done. If everybody thinks that you want something, your price just went up."

The Browns currently have quarterbacks Josh McCown and Johnny Manziel.

The NFL Draft begins on Thursday night, April 30th in Chicago and ends on May 2nd.
