NBA Rumors: Kevin Love headed to the Lakers?
The Los Angeles Lakers are looking to add several key players after a dismal season and Kevin Love might be one of them.
Rumors throughout the season have claimed that the Lakers and star Kobe Bryant have managed to land Rajon Rondo, whose season with the Dallas Mavericks have come to an end due to an injury. Now, rumors about acquiring Cleveland Cavaliers forward, Love, have heated up as well.
According to these claims, Love would ideally want to end up in Los Angeles. The three-time All-Star played for UCLA and was born in Santa Monica, CA. Although Love has refuted any rumors that he will leave the Cavaliers, the reports believe that the Lakers will offer him a max contract if he opts out and becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer.
Love has had some difficulties finding his game alongside LeBron James and Kyrie Irving and could be interested in playing with a healthy Bryant.
Throughout the season, Love averaged 16.4 points with 9.7 rebounds. In the first round series against the Boston Celtics, which the Cavs swept 4-0, Love averaged 14.3 points with 7.0 rebounds.
Love suffered a dislocated shoulder in Game 4 and will most likely miss the rest of the playoffs.
Adrian Wojnarowski with Yahoo! Sports reported that the Celtics were trying to get Love to move to Boston. However, after the injury, which happened at the hands of Celtics center, Kelly Olynyk, the Celtics' chances of getting Love fell drastically.
Wojnarowski wrote, "For as much as Kevin Love has publicly resisted the discussion of free agency this season, it has been on his mind. He has never been completely comfortable in Cleveland, with his role, nor his connection to those around him. Throughout the year, league sources say, one destination grew in possibility as his exit strategy: The Boston Celtics.
Boston has been no sure thing to lure Love, but it had a better shot than most had believed. If Love left the Cavaliers, the Celtics had closed the gap on the Los Angeles Lakers, league sources told Yahoo Sports."
The Cavs will play the winner of the Chicago Bulls - Milwaukee Bucks series. The Bulls currently lead the series 3-2.
