LG G4 Release Date and Specs Update: New Flagship Officially Launched With DSLR-Like Camera Controls
Following a string of leaks and rumors, LG finally unveiled its new flagship smartphone, the LG G4. The smartphone comes with a leather back and sports a DSLR-type RAW photography.
LG G4 has a 5.5-inch Quad HD display (2560x 1440, 538 ppi) and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor with X10 LTE coupled with 3 GB RAM. It sports a 16 mp rear camera with F1.8 aperture including 8 mp front camera.
LG G4 runs Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box.
The phones have a choice of leather finishes, black, brown, red, sky blue, beige, yellow, and are crafted for a better grip. Other material options for the G4 rear cover include pure Ceramic White with 3D patterns, artisan-forged Metallic Gray as well lustrous, Shiny Gold.
Another notable feature of the new LG flagship is its camera which is equipped with manual control typically limited to full-bodied SLR cameras. It is touted to have a rare-in-smartphones F1.8 aperture lens which allows 80 per cent more light to hit the image sensor than in the LG G3.
In the manual mode, users can directly control the focus, shutter speed, ISO, exposure compensation and white balance for every shot. It also allows you to save photos in RAW format, in addition to JPEG.
"The LG G4's design is defined by the Slim Arc, which runs along its entire body, highlighted by a display with a subtle curvature. More than just a design accent, Slim Arc offers 20 percent better durability than a flat smartphone in face-down drops and gives the smartphone a more comfortable and secure feel in the hand," says LG.
LG G4 also packs a huge 3000 mAh battery which according to the company will last 20 percent longer than the G3.
The smartphone will start its global roll-out on April 29 in Korea and will eventually be available on approximately 180 carriers worldwide.
