Google Mobilegeddon: Things Web Developers And Website Owners Should Know
Google is completely (almost) shaking up how search works, especially on mobile devices. The search giant is introducing changes in algorithm that will offer priority in search for mobile-friendly sites on mobile devices.
According to estimates, the changes could spell as much as 50 percent less traffic for websites that are not mobile optimized.
However, there are bunch of things that web-developers, or anyone who owns a site, can do to ensure that they remain unaffected from the change.
Developers should quickly ensure that the websites are mobile-friendly. Google is also offering a tool through which website owners can check if their websites are mobile-friendly or not.
Another tool being offered by Google is Mobile Usability Report. This tools essentially shows developers if there are any errors in how the websites work on mobile devices.
The change will not only impact developers but consumers as well (in a good way). Changes in the algorithm will ensure that consumers aren't offered un-optimized webpages as browsing them on the smaller devices is nearly frustrating.
According to reports, only 38 percent of business websites are currently optimized for mobile use. The changes in Google's algorithm is a wake up call and should essentially force them to create a website that serves to mobile users as well.
