New Apple iPads Set To Launch on October 16: Report
Apple is reportedly planning a "special event" on Oct. 16 with major plans of launching new iPads along with updates to its iMac line.
If you have been waiting too long for the next iPad innovation, look no further. According to the latest report by Re/Code citing anonymous sources, Apple is ready to launch its next line of iPads this month. The Cupertino tech giant is reportedly planning to host a "special event" on Oct.16 at its own Town Hall Auditorium in Cupertino, Calif., where the anticipated launch of new iPads will take place.
The information on new additions to Apple's lineup comes on the heels of a major launch of revolutionary iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus last month. The tech giant recorded incredible sales of its new flagships, which even broke last year's iPhone 5S opening weekend sales record. The release of new iPads this month sits well with previous releases.
Apple released the first iPad in 2010 and several similar devices from various tech giants followed. The tech giant has largely favored October for the launch of new iPads, like it has chosen September as the month for new iPhone flagships. Last year in October, Apple announced the iPad Air and iPad Mini devices.
Apple has been quite successful with its iPad lineup and remained the largest single global vendor in the second quarter. But the popularity of Android and other smartphones and tablets has had an adverse effect on the sales of Apple products. The company's shares fell to 26.9 percent during the second quarter this year, a significant drop from 33 percent last year, research firm IDC reported via Business Insider.
In addition to the revamped iPad line, Re/Code also reported that Apple will launch the latest updates to its iMac line. The publication cited an article from 9to5Mac earlier this week for this bit of information.
Apple is expected to pack a faster processor in its new iPads, mostly A8 chip as found in iPhone 6 or upgraded A8X. Details on the new lineup are scanty but the event later this month will answer all queries.
