Sarah Jessica Parker will be returning to her home for many years - HBO after the network announced Thursday that they have picked up her half-hour comedy Divorce to series.

The former Sex and the City star will play Frances, a "woman who suddenly begins to reassess her life and her marriage, and finds that making a clean break and a fresh start is harder than she thought."

Sarah Jessica, 50, starred as relationship columnist Carrie Bradshaw in Sex And The City from 1998 to 2004 on HBO, and she reprised the role on the big screen in two movies.

The show will tell the tale of just that - a long and drawn-out divorce. Thomas Haden Church will co-star as Ms. Parker's on-screen husband, and Molly Shannon and Talia Balsam will play two of her friends.

Sharon Horgan, an actress, writer and producer, is writing the project, which will be filmed in New York.

For HBO, Divorce joins a comedy roster that includes recently renewed Veep and Silicon Valley as well as upcoming Ballers, Vice Principals and The Brink in addition to Togetherness, the third and final season of Getting On.

The series will be filmed this year; no premiere date has been set.
