Jawbone UP4 Fitness Tracker Lets You Make Store Purchases With Just a Tap
Jawbone is gearing up to ship its UP3 fitness wristband tracker after months of delay but reportedly the company has two other devices to unveil: the UP2 and the UP4.
UP2, as Mashable notes, will be a scaled down version of the UP3 in terms of price and functionality and will replace its popular UP24 wearable. The UP4, however, is the standout in the new announcement. The UP4 would allow users of American Express customers to make store purchases with just a tap at checkout.
UP4 will ship this summer and will cost $179.99.
Tap-to-pay feature is becoming increasingly popular for smartphones, i.e., Apple and Samsung Pay but Jawbone is the first fitness-focused wearable to incorporate this.
Jawbone said the UP4 is dedicated to its partnership with American Express and declined to comment on the possibility of including other services like VISA and MasterCard for future-generation wearables, Mashable noted.
Jawbone is replacing UP24 with a much slimmer UP2, a beautiful, sleek device that is 45 percent smaller than the predecessor.
